Movie Review-Happy Feet 2

After grossing $384 Million worldwide, the penguins come dancing back into theaters just in time for the holiday season. Happy Feet 2 features more foot stomping fun and this time Mumbles (Elijah Wood) is a grown penguin with a wife, Gloria (voiced by Pink) and a son, Erik who’s having his own problems adjusting to life in the colony. Young Erik feels like an outcast in the colony because he has two left flippers when it comes to dancing.

The young penguin leaves his home, along with his friends, to follow Ramon (voiced by Robin Williams) and discovers he’s more accepted in a colony with a “flying penguin” than in his own. However, when his dad, Mumbles, ventures out to find his son and bring him back home, the young penguin discovers his true talent and learns the valuable lesson of how working together can conquer all obstacles. It’s a valuable message that families can share during this holiday season.

The movie experience is stunning (it’s also available in 3D) and it’s easy to see why the original movie won the “Best Animated Oscar” for Pixar in ’06. Happy Feet 2 also features an all star voice cast including Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Sofia Vergara (Modern Family). Its rated PG for some crude humor and some peril, which might frighten small children.

I took my grandson to the movie and we loved it (and if you have kids you know it’s not easy to entertain a wiggly five year old for two hours!). On my “Hollywood Popcorn Scale” Happy Feet 2 is a JUMBO!
